About Surat Thani School English Program Students

The students of Surat Thani School English Program are very proud to be part of such an elite program. Being taught all thier core subjects by foriegners is a challenge, but a fun, exciting experience. The teaching methods of the foriegn teachers is extremely different for most of the new English Program students. Throughout the 3 year program the students learn to enjoy the new teaching methods and the new style of learning.

M1, which means "Maytayom 1" in Thai, is the first year offered in Surat Thani School English Program. The students are between the ages of 12 and 13 years old. At this level the students are divided into 3 classes of 30 students. The classes are divided according to the students learning abilities and level of English writing, reading, and speaking. The first year is exciting and challenging for many of the English Program students. This year prepares the students for the road ahead.

This brings the English Program students to M2 (Maytayom 2). This year presents itself with an even more challenging curriculum. The English Program M2 students are expected to be able to speak, read, and write English at a higher level. Thier other subjects such as Math, Science, and IT Computer do not get easier either, although they do get more interesting. The students at M@ level have made good friendships by this time and are settled into the Surat Thani English Program "way of life".

By M3, the Surat Thani School English Program students have established themselves as English speakers and are working on more elaborate projects. The English Camps become a time to enjoy the last magic moments together with English Program friends, for next year many students will be off to Bangkok or separated throughout Surat Thani School. The M3 realize how special the English Program is and take advantage of every last moment of it.

Each Level(M1,M2,M3) of students is sub-divided into 4 classes(Ep1, Ep2, Ep3, Ep4) when the students are entering M1. These classes do not change throughout the program. The level suggests a higher or lower level of English and/or learning. Ep1 is considered the higher of all the levels and Ep4, the lower. This does not suggest, however, that the level of each individual student does not change throughout the time in the English Program. There may be Ep4 students who could very well be in Ep1 by the time they reach the M3 level.
